1 Peter 5:7 (ESV) casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

God invites us to cast all our cares, concerns, anxieties, troubles, or anything that would cause us distress in our lives. The context of this wonderful paternal word for us is the rooting out of pride and the building up of our faith. Pride keeps us from casting our problems on God and weak faith keeps us from seeing Jesus Christ as willing or able  to take care of us. We think we can take care of all and any problems that come our way. What we find out is that we are not able to command our anxieties as we think. As we make the attempt to take on our troubles, our troubles usually take over us. This is pride. Not only will our pride cause us continued distress but our pride usually hurts those we care about the most. This can happen within our work, finances, marriage, parenting, family, church or any other aspect of life.

Take note the paternal love of God in this verse.

1. God gives  permission to take ALL our griefs to Him.

2. God has a paternal concern for us. He is our Father.

3. God has the power to take on our problems.

Don't let your pride keep you from the paternal care of God over ALL your problems! Cast all your anxieties on Him who loves you.
