1 John 3:1- Love that is out of this world 1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.”Good morning church! We should be amazed at the love of God for us. The adjective translated, what manner, originally is used to mean, “of what country”. The idea here is that God’s love is so amazing that is caused John to ask, “of what country” is such love found? God’s love is out of this world! Far too often we look to this world for love only to find that this world is not capable of providing true love. So do not look to the world but rather look to Jesus. The love of God is amazing because God is not drawn to our loveliness, but God in spite of our sinfulness, desires our greatest good . Gaze at the cross and contemplate what was so greatly sacrificed so God could call you son or daughter. His love protects you from the destruction of sin and His love cast out fear. His love preserves you, for He will lose none that belong to Him. His love is persistent and powerful, for what shall separate us from the love of God? His love is unconditional, for while we were sinners Christ died for us. His love is transformational, for He made us alive who were dead in trespasses and sins. Child of God, you are His prized procession. You are no longer children of wrath but children of God! Do you see Him? Jesus is the manner of love that the Father bestowed on you. Beloved, look at Him, for in Him is your greatest joy. Look to Him, for in Him is your greatest satisfaction.
